    Exclamation Problem with heating...

... at home Seriously. Don't know what to do. My radiators up stairs are hot but downstair cold. I have tried bleeding radiators and didn't help. But I have noticed that when I will switch boiler on for 10min and the problem will appear I will have to switch it off for 5-10min and switch it back on all radiators are working Somebody can help?? Do I have to call specialist??

When you bled the radiators did you then bleed the pump while switched off (if the pump is accessable of course)...?

reckon your pump is playing up.
Hot water rises so that explains why the top rads are hot.
Have a listen, and feel for vibration to see if the pump is pumping.

Without knowing the ins and outs of your heating system could be the pump or a motorised valve.

I'm not a plumber but have some experience of heating systems and if the weather was better I'd pop over. Took me over an hour today to get from Handy Cross to the Three Horseshoes pub . Sorry mate.

could be a couple of easy things. 1 check your pump speed - on the pump its a little switch usually 1 - 3 speed. Set as 1 in summer, 2 autumn / spring and 3 in winter. Only a guide but on 1 it will not force water round system unless its balanced really well. Which brings me to ...

2 balance. somewhere in the system will be gate valves - like round stopcocks. The gate valves are used to balance the system, make sure the pipes that feed downstairs have the valves opened a bit more and the upstairs closed a bit more. Water circulates by the easiest route. Heating uses manifolds not a series of radiators which is why any rad can be shut off without affecting circulation. Difficult to explain but if you blew air back up your exhaust it would get to the 4 way manifold and take the easiest route. What your trying to achieve is an even flow to both upstairs and downstairs. The pump speed is easier to check first !

Last thing - if you bled rads with pump on you will have bled loads of air into the system. It could also be sludge if its not been flushed but unlikely to affect all downstairs etc.

it just happened yesterday... well first in the morning when timer switched the boiler I heard some wistle sound coming from cupboard where the water tank is. There is some kind of box on a pipe probably a water pump... Well I think the best idea is to call Mrs Landlady to sort things out. Didnt want to do it cose she just give a birth to a baby. But its better to do it now before something worse can happen. I will check tha pump in a minute. thanks for all sugestions. by the way 1h from handy cross to Three Horseshoes pub madnes... The Pastures were close all day today and it is still close..... snow now snow...
