    Default misfire / judder

    got a 150 cdti and this morning turned it on and it was coughing and spluttering whilst on idels and the spanner light coming on and off. left it and got a ride to work and just come in and its doing the same thing again ( was hoping the fairy's would have fixed it) but no such luck.

    when i take it for a drive it runs alryt but splutters sometimes at higher revs but not as much and then just sounds like a misfire on one of the cylinders at idle?

    any ideas?

    3rd injector, EGR valve..?

    This is usually down to the 3rd injector wiring, remove the engine cover, unplug the 3rd (3rd from the left as you stand infront of it) injector wiring plug, spray a little bit of WD40 in there, then connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect a few times and see if that makes a difference, if it does then you will need the new plug, about £12 from VX.

    This is very intresting as my car is doing somthing very similar when i start it from cold it seems to start on 3 cylinders but when i rev it it clears and runs on 4 it also judders untill it warms up
    Its a cdti150 only done 34000

    ok will check the third injector tnyt! Is the third one the second from the left as you look at it from the front of the car or the second on the right?

    Number 1 is the cam belt end so that makes it 3 from left if that helps

    See this pic



    Mine has had the 3rd injector fix - and you will note that the plug is different.

    Still not heard any conclusive reason why only no.3 - apparently its due to heat flow over that plug - but I am not convinced..

    cheers for the help just cleaned the injector and its running a lot better with no spanner light so at least i know its that!

    yeh ill buy it at the wknd and fit anyway as dont want it to fail at an awkward time
