All mangled and bent inside the door...

VX want £77 for the part ant £132 to replace.

Is that reasonable? Any indys around Liverpool/Bootle??

    Cheers

Can you DIY? It's not difficult to change the mech.

Can you close the window manually and wedge it up in the closed position? I had to do this with a MK 2 Astra when I was a student, until I could replace the mech.

Can you temporarily detach the glass from the mech, it would need to be done anyway for mech replacement.

    ebay for a replacement?

Here is the only How 2 I could find. It is for fitting electric rear mechanisms, but the principles of removal and refitting the front mechanism will be similar.

I got the window back up by pulling and pushing...

Can see where the mech is bent...

So do I need to drill the rivets out to get existing part out, and then re rivet a new one back in.

Will that Vectra C one fit the Signum?

I assume they are exactly the same, as the front doors are. His phone number is on the ad, so may be worth confirming.

If you already have the door card off, then fitting a new mech would be easy. Just unclip the wiring, drill out rivets and remove (disengaging from window runner too)

    OK...

    I'm going to DIY it!

Pick the part up later and do it this weekend... what tools will I need?

    • A rivet gun
    • Drill
    • Torx 20 Screwdriver
    What else?

Are there any better instructions anywhere?

How do I get the glass off the mechanism?

If it's like other cars, the mechanism had a slider along the bottom of the glass runner and will simply slide off the end once the rivets ahve been drilled off.

I don't know what specific tools you will need other than what you have listed.
