    confused Advice please!

2006 Facelift 2.0 sri Vectra C - looking to see if anyone can help with advice about how I adjust the headlights main beam.

I have got the dipped beam aligned perfect and with the recently installed HIDs have no doubts it was money very well spent (thank-you Santa ) but the main beam is shining way too high and my question is - can this be adjusted seperately or will I just have to put up with it?

I've checked the bulbs and these are fitted correctly and I know that with the headlight adjuster inside the car it effects the entire light unit, but on my car the main beam is so far out I'm thinking there MUST be some way of lowering/adjusting it without having to adjust it from inside and then effecting the dipped beam HIDs.

    Way too high ??

I thought the only 'aimable' lamps were the dipped beam - the reflector assembly being a rigid item so the positional relationship between dip and main would be fixed.
So assuming the lamp mounts are securely fixed to the reflector assembly and the dipped beam is correctly set, I wouldn't be too worried about the main beam as long as it's pointing pretty much straight ahead.

Of course I could be wrong

The Main beams can be adjusted using the alan sockets same as the dips. I think the dips are the inboard sockets and the mains on outboard or vice versa..

As you know the adjusters are the white allen key sockets adjusters through the access holes on the top of the front member above the radiator, outside lamps's are aways the dipped and the inner lamps always the main beam. I think ani-clockwise raises it, if I remember correctly but not 100% sure. Best to place the car against a wall or garage door and mark current position so you can tell how far you are moving it. Just a couple of minutes job.

I no longer have a VX car, so cannot remember if there was an adjustment for both dipped and mainbeam, its possible that Handyandy-uk is correct and there may only be the one adjustment for both... memory's not so good these days..lol. I have a feeling that there were 2 holes either side but one of them may have been for horizontal adjustment.

No they're not. The inner of the two adjusters raise and lower the lights. The outer screws are for the horizontal adjustment.

If you raise the height of the dipped beams, the high/main beams also adjust as well as they're in the same light unit. There is no separate adjustment for the high/main beam.
