    Default Snapped Spring?

Few week ago driving to my girlfriend's, I heard a loud noise coming from the back, didn't sound like a snap/boing, but like a loud bang as if something had got inside the arch. Got out and gave quick visual inspection, couldn't see much. Dawned on me today that it could be a snapped spring, when I go over speed bumps, the car's really stiff and have to drive over at least 5mph, any faster and my head'll hit the roof of the car! Any ideas?

Yes was thinking that, but is this something that has to be notified to the insurance?

I've found the ride is a bit harsher lately but I figured it was related to the cold weather?

Yes, definitely. Lowering springs are usually cheaper than Vx like-for-like replacements and less prone to snapping too imo.

I'll get the wheel off at the weekend have a proper inspection like. I can't mod my car due to insurance issues, that's why I ask, so it's gonna have to be VX springs, unless I cheekily get the SRI springs!

Lowering springs are cheaper too this is just a standard non vauxhall spring and you would have to replace them in pairs.

First my rear springs, then my front went within a week or so of each other..i fitted aftermarket springs, swedish make.

I'll try and find out the name.

    No problems at all.

Vauxhall wanted £175,plus vat for a pair of rear springs!!

At my local car place(AUTODEAL) a pair of springs were £60 ish!!
