Default Central Locking and Alarm Problems

    HI all,

    I have a 1.9cdti Signum an a 56 plate,

I have an intermittent problem which has reared its ugly head tonight in that the central locking will not unlock/respond using the key fob, I then manually unlock the door with the key and when I open the door the alarm starts to sound which silences when I put the key in the ignition and then everything is hunky dory and back to normal.

I would have thought that by unlocking the door manually it would reset/switch the alarm off??

As I said its an intermittent problem and it will work fine now for a month or so (I was thinking that the battery in the fob could be getting goosed but not so sure).

Also when everything is working as it should and I unlock the door manually with the key it is only opening that particular door ie the central locking is not operating all the other doors??

Any thoughts, ideas or info is much appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Ste.

Your central locking and alarm is behaving exactly as it should do if opening the door with the key and not the remote plipper. All documented in the handbook (if you have one?)

Once you put the key in the ignition, it then resync's the remote central locking as well as turning off the alarm. That is the only way to turn off the alarm if the remote plipper isn't working. It relies on the transponder in the remote fob to confirm its the correct key. It can only do this in the ignition barrel as that's where the transponder receiver is located.

I would try changing the fob battery (CR 2032), and also giving the batt terminals a clean while you've got the battery out.

As regard the central locking. Vauxhall penny pinching and doing away with some of the electronics and servos required to lock the doors manually. If you want to lock the doors manually with the central locking, you have to reach in either through the passenger door or offside door and press the lock button on the drivers door control panel. As said, it's mentioned in the handbook. Earlier Vectra-C's did lock and unlock the doors via the key in the door lock.

    Hi guys,

Just come across your thread. This has just started with mine, I have replaced the battery - just the same. One thing I noticed, I started to pull off the other day and the engine cut out as though it had stalled, turned the key to restart - nothing, tried again - nothing, not even any electrics, third time - fine but this central locking problem occured, don't know if it's related or not!
