Default Blower / Heater Fan Problem

    Hi guys,
The porblem im having (which seems quite common after reading this forum) is my heater works fine but blower 1-3 dont work but 4 works perfectly fine.
I have removed the pollen filter to check if it was dry etc and i also span the motor from behind and its seems free and moving ok.
When I put the fan on to 1-3 it clicks under the glove box as normal but doesnt work. There is no water damage and all the drains seem fine so its not that.
One thing I have noticed but thought it was irrelevant a few weeks ago the a squeeking type noice was coming from somewhere near the passenger footwell at the time I thought it was just a leaf, and still maybe, but not sure now.

    Im just wondering:
    A. Which part needs replacing, Ive read about people changin the "
rheostat" or the "Resistor Pack" or any thing else it might be
    B. Has this part just blown like electronic things do or is there a specific reason and will the new unit just blow straight away if so how do I prevent this.

Thanks Guys any quick replys would be greatly appreciated as I have today off work to carry out and required fixes.

    P.S. Its a 2004 Vectra 2.0T Edition 100 SRI

The resistor pack has failed. You can either replace it, or just the thermal fuse (something like 0.79p from Maplins) - which is mentioned in the how2 section.

Right I have removed the resistor pack and to my untrained eye it looks fine (no burn marks etc) but then again I have no idea , I tried to test the fuse using a voltage testing screwdriver and it light up when I tested it, but im not sure if this proves or disproves any thing. Any suggestions Cheers Guys
