    Default yellow spanner

I've had the yellow spanner (with a car behind it) on the dash appear over the recent cold period. First appeared when I got into 'petrol ignition mode' and turned the engine over straight away without the glowplug light going out when it was -2 outside.

Is there any member with tech2 in the west Cornwall/Plymouth area that can take a look??

    Many thanks.

    Ben

I suppose the next question is, does the spanner symbol stay on all the time, or does it go off within 10 seconds of the engine starting.

If it goes off, then a fault has occurred previously, but is no longer occurring.
Not too much to worry about.

If the spanner stays on, then the fault is still there!...this is more important and should be checked out asap.

This is where I sound daft now...
    Glow-plugs on petrol ignition mode.
What type of engine are we on about...petrol, diesel or dual fuel?

    1. It stays for about 5-10 seconds.

    2. Its a diesel. I've only recently got a diesel for the first time and I meant that i don't wait for the glow plug light to go out sometimes. ie. petrol engine mode - get in and start it up! Sorry about the confusion.

This is just modern vehicles for you, both petrol and diesel.

A fault code has been stored, but the fault is not currently there!!
It may clear itself after 20 or so trouble free engine starts.

Right, problem is still there so decided to get one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1107950712...84.m1438.l2649 to measure the resistance in the glow plugs.

Question... how do i use it to get a reading of any dud plugs?
