    Default A mobile Phone question

Right. We have never had a contract phone before.......ahhhhhggghhhh! There are sooooooo many options!!!

    My basic needs are:

    1. I don't use huge amounts - about £20 a month

    2. I like the idea of calling any network, or landline at any time.

    3. I was recommended the Flext deal by T mobile in Carphone Whorehouse yesterday...anyone know of this or know of something better?

    4. I probably text more than talk...

    5. What the heck are these cashback offers you can get? How do they make their money? (In other words - wheres the catch??)

    Thank you so very much

    From a very confused lady

I got my phone last year from dialaphone. loads of talk and text for £3.99/month. (If you've already got a phone do what I did this year...negotiated with 02. Got 9 months free and then £7.50/month for the last 3 months)

my mobile bills were coming to on average £200/m for 2 phones with orange, we changed to the t-mobile flext35 which gives us £180 worth of calls, texts, multimedia(pics or video) each month each, for £70 (2x35)which we are not using anywhere near that. Only problem is its an 18month contract and you cant reduce your tariff for the first 9 months you can only go up tariffs, they do a lower tariff, the flext20 which gives you £60/m for £20

Tha `catch` with cash back offers is that you have to remember to claim them after each 3 month period, and send back the bills within a set time. I have forgotten mine a couple of times and they count on this I reckon ...

Chunkster, £200 a month !!! FFS that is some bill that, I spend about a tenner *lol*

My 2 sons have their phones on my account(t-mobile), both under 16, pay as you go was a pain as they always seemed to run out of credit at the wrong time.

I now have them on Flext £25 which actually gives £80 worth of calls and texts in any combination. Excellent value for money

Weekly text alert advising of remaining credit on account and I control the account by placing credit limit on the accounts

This represents excellent value for money, definately worth looking into Jo

    I use Virgin Mobile...

My usage is £15-20 per month. 15p per minute first five minutes per day and 5p thereafter. International roaming, direct debit and so one. Been with them for 5 years and recommend them to anyone!

by far the best option for new contract users at the moment is Flext.
i'm not sure if it's still on but if you order via the website they were doing 25% off the tariff.

failing that, O2 do some cheap contracts.

but remember - the cheaper the contact the lower end phone you get unless you pay

btw, calling any network (landline included) is pretty much the norm now on all contracts.

    This looks a cracking deal....

    http://www.phones2udirect.com/produc...escriptionText

reading it, I get one of the latest phones - on a high user contract, then at month 6, 9 and 12 I get 1/3 of the annual cost back - effectively making it free

Dont worry - I wont forget to send the invoice off to them)
