    Default Identifying gearbox type

    Hi all

Does someone out there have the information required to identify the type of gearbox my '55 plate CDTI 150 has?

I'm pretty sure that the DMF is on its way out and I know that there are two different types - F40 and a M32.

Normal format for Opel/Vauxhall gearbox codes is Fnn for front-wheel drive manuals, AFnn for front-wheel drive automatics - I've never heard of a M32.

I was looking at this ebay item http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vaux-Vectra-1-...item33532b2f74 scoll down and you can see where he asks to confirm gearbox type.

Do you think that this is a fair price?

    M32 is a common Vauxhall 6-speed box

Thought the M32 was only fitted to VXR's, should be an F40

CDTI's had the M32 as well, just different ratios for a diesel.

M32 Geraboxes were fitted to Astras 1.9CDTI. The Vectra will have the F40

    F40 eh? Thanks for that....

How long will I get away with leaving a noisy DMF? It's only making a bit of noise at the clutch bite point and only on tickover and in neutral.

If it fails is there any collateral damage elsewhere?

Hi!If You remove the gaiter(just unlip from every side and lift it up,dont need to remove the knob) You should find F40 or M32 on that black plastic thingy thats inside.Thats how I found out about mine.I have F40.But when I bought DMF + clutch I've got clutch for M32 so it's sitting in my house.Brand new LuK!Anyone interested?

Vauxhall fitted the Astra VXR with the M32, which many who have tuned them are finding wasn't a particularly good move, since in standard form the 2 litre turbo already produced 320 Nm of torque. Indeed it was actually restricted to that because of the clutch/DMF/gearbox rating.

But yes, ironically your diesel has the stronger gearbox!
