Default tid - gid upgrade.... help please

hi all - i have a 07 vec exclusive with tid - i want to change to gid - so have a few questions..
    1) removed tid and it has a 32 pin grey plug on not 18 pin plug - do i still need to alter pin locations if so which to where?...or would this mean it is pre wired for a gid.

2)the stereo is cd30 with a BC button on it.... does this control gid or would i still need a stalk?

3)what year would car would be best for taking donor gid or does it not matter.

details off the bak of the tid are:

    13 208 193
    565412769
    2811543-50
    AY 2860
    fd:51\06
    hw: 0006

    many thanks

    Right there are two answers.

Tech 2 out and in = YES (if you plan to refit the TID at a later date then don't Tech 2 out).
Just fit the GID and Tech 2 in.

Change the wiring configuration = NO

Just plug and play and then Tech 2

    More answers: -
    BC button selects BC
Then you would need wheel controls (roller type), or use the cursor buttons on the radio facia.

The pre Oct 2004 radios need the special indicator stork with buttons on.
Anything else you add such as rollers and switches and a divorced screen will need to be tech 2 programmed.

wiring should be the same so best to plug in and see if you get nothing on the screen then you have to join 4 wires together this is the power and ground

Shorting wires as described is for pre october 2004 radios.
(CCRT, NCDC, CCR, NCDR..prefixes that sort of thing)

I went from CD30 with TID, to CD70 with GID...just plug and play. - and tech 2
and then CD70 with CID (with additional video lead) - and Tech 2

ok just ordered gid - so thats what the other set of buttons on steering wheel are for... do i have to have the washer fluid sensor or can i use it without?

so once its tech2'd do i have to ask them to enable computer? im sure i read it somewhere on here - is it cim or something.

how much is tech2 usually for this procedure?

You need check controls enabling for the washer fluid (plus the sensor in the washer bottle), if you don't plan on fitting one then you need to short out a couple of wires, a search of this site will tell you where you need the short.

Costs of tech 2 that depends on the dealer but it's somewhere around £100, Plasma who is a member on here lives down your way and has tech 2. Might be worth dropping him a PM and see if can help out.

Sure some are different mate,as ive looked at wiring diagrams for my05 cars and some TID displays don't have the 2 wires to put power to GID so you have to add them and bridge, remember not all cars have the same loom and just because it worked for you doesnt mean it will work for him, thats why he's best plugging it in and checking it all works first before altering any wire's

I welcome your doubting my comments.
I rather you questioned, than proceeded blindly.

However all the official Vx wiring diagrams for Full Can (October 2004 -54plate onward) vehicles share the same generic schematic diagram.
1 for head unit (regardless of telephone equipped, DAB equipped, Navigation equipped or basic CD player radio) and just one schematic for all the displays.

I know the pre October 2004 vehicles have a wide range of variation...
Screen drawings are separate for MID, TID, GID and CID. (Four schematics)
Then there are drawings for a radio and another for a navigation equipped radio.
    (Therefore 2 different schematics).

I would be interested to see alternative schematics for the radios, other than on the radio casing, or on the usual TIS databases.
Would be easier than decyphering which wires are/are not fitted on each type of head unit.

Regarding wiring, my Vectra is a March 2005 "Energy" 1.9CDTi, and so has virtually all the "additional wiring" missing...including rear roof light ribbon, front fog-light wiring loom and several other items considered as standard on some basic Vectra's.
My car didn't even come with steering wheel controls for the radio!!

My train of thought was therefore, "If my car with most wiring missing was okay, then so should any other vehicle"

Hope that doesn't sound snotty...not intended to be.

    Regards,
    Rob.

Not at all snotty Rob most of the diagrams ive seen have been from german sites and tbh they have done it and bought the t-shirt they even have a how-to for MJ05 cars and that states that TID to GID pins 5 to 3 and 1 to 2 these are power and ground

Think it may be hit and miss on wiring as vaux chopped and changed bet on newer veccys these pins will be missing
