Not surprised to hear you could'nt buy any rocksalt.

I had 6 large bags delivered from Wicks 2 weeks ago for our driveway. about £5.30 a bag so not that cheap, and it cost me extra for the delivery. B&Q was much cheaper at about £3.93 a bag but they went out of stock well before xmas.

It seems that Wicks no longer have any in stock either as I rang them yesterday, not in our area anyway, not expecting any in either until the end of the month I was told.

Even after spreading all that rocksalt down before xmas, it was only a tempory solution, as its currently got about 5 or 6 inches of snow on it.
We are managing to get out using the wifes Freelander, the BM's been left in the garage where it looks like its going to be for the next week or 2 at least.

I notice that the few grit containers on the side of the roads on some of the hills have all been emptied too. In fact I went on the Hereford council website this morning and came across a pdf showing the reduced road routes they are now gritting, and they are not even gritting our village at all or anywhere near it. Just doing the main roads like the A44 etc. (2miles away) Not good, especially for the elderly or disabled who cannot get out and about for supplies.

In fact I left them a snooty email addressed to the following.
'Att. of Dept Dealing with: Collection of Bodies of elderly disabled people abandoned in the snow'

apparently cat litter works well for de-icing. I read somewhere on the BBC that in times like this, sales of it goes up 70%. worth a try?

Well in view of the fact we have a eccentric elderly neighbour with about 17 cats (yes 17 you read it right) a short distance away, I think I'll pass on putting that down...lol. They already treat our garden as a litter as it is.
