    Default Which Cam Belt?

I'm not sure this is the correct part of the site to ask this, but in your experience, which manufacturer is the best for a replacement cam belt? Mine's the Z18XE engine. Looking to buy a kit & get a workshop where i work to do it & the water pump at the same time.

    Any thoughts would be good.

    Cheers guys & girls.

not gonna do it myself, not that brave! i have had a quote from the workshop where i work & it was £240 for the cam belt & water pump to be replaced. does that seem like a reasonable price? not sure what parts they would be using, but the service manager said he'd give me a 'worse case scenario' price using genuine VX parts. As the genuine parts are £160 inclusive (pump & belt kit) must be £80 labour, plus im getting 15% discount at that price.

With trade card it is somewhat cheaper than that. From memory the complete cambelt kit was £60 and the pump was about £40 when I did mine. Done the cambelt kit twice and the pump once. Car on 130,000 miles, so about another 10K before cambelt is done again.

First cam belt change was at 60K, second was at 100K - when I did the pump too.

Well, found a Gates belt kit for £57 & a Febi Bilstein water pump for £35. They also had a FAI pump for £32. Plus £6.95 delivery on top. All from Vauxhall World Parts in Essex. Anyone any experience of using these guys?

To be honest, I would stay with OE parts. At least the local dealer is a known entity and so are the parts.
