Glovebox

Stopped to go fishing and we all got out the motor and when I tried to lock the car, it just would not lock. Even with the key in the lock itself!!

After a few frantic minutes of how the **** we get out of this sceanrio, one of the guys noticed the glovepocket was left open. Didn't think that this would make a difference - but it did!!

Anybody else know this?

Well i didn't know that,i wouldnt of thought leaving glovebox open would not allow you to lock car as most people leave it open to show would be thieves there's no valuables left in car

I removed by glovebox a couple of weeks ago & haven't put it back yet but haven't had any problems locking the doors

Thinking about it there's no electric to the glovebox so not sure how it wouldnt let you lock car think it most of been a coincident

There is but it's only the light

To shut the glove box you'd have to open and close the door again. I have a funny feeling the door wasn't shut right

just tried it and car locked fine, as said, door must not have been shut, or coincidence.

I put my bet on the door. When you saw the glove box where open, you had to open and close the door, right? Was it the drivers door? If the drivers door isn't shut completely, it should not be possible to lock. Not sure about the front passenger door. Do you have cold weather where you live? If the door was closed, it might be the sensor that was stuck, common fault on "all" electromecanic things these cold winterdays

All of the doors do it if they aren't shut right. Although it would be good if the car could tell you its not locked,like what the rover/mg's do
