    Default Very dead car....

Now the battery is dead on my car (which I knew) I currently have it on charge at the moment.

I have a couple of questions though, I put the key in the drivers door to manually unlock the door as no power to unlock with remote, the key wouldn't turn, I had to open the boot and climb through the back to unlock the rear door, now I unlocked the drivers door from the inside but the door still wouldn't open, is this cos the car is deadlocked?? tried the passenger front door and it was the same, now as I open the boot manually it won't actually lock now is this cos there is no power to work the lock??

    Sorry its long winded

We've got one but I've decided to get the battery fully charged as fed up jumping it, at least if its fully charged I can test the battery and go from there as its been losing charge within a couple of days of not being touched.

Its possible the locks are frozen but when the door is unlocked and you pull on the interior and exterior handles I can't hear the latch engaging as the rear doors are working fine.

Thats the plan, I'm hoping once the battery has charged the car will work as normal again

I would advise completely against these jump start devices, as most use a higher voltage than is recommended. If you need a Jump start then jump from another vehicle with it's engine running and use jump leads. Before attempting to start your car though, wait a minute while the leads are connected and the jumper car engine is running, after your car has started wait a minute before disconnecting the leads.

The reason? Your car will start better if it has some charge in your battery before you crank (hence the wait) and the wait after starting your car is so your don't over load your charging system when the battery is really low.

I've normally just been jumping from another car and doing the above

Well I seem to have sorted all the doors now and can actually get in through the drivers door, just waiting on the battery to be fully charged, its been on charge 5 hours so far.

After nearly 24 hours the battery was fully charged

I bought myself one of these off ebay earlier in the week for £7

I tested the battery off the car and it was reading 13.31 volts, then I connected it to the car and it read 12.91 volts, then I fired up the car and it was reading about 14.20 volts so that tells me the car is doing what it should be doing.
