    Default Any Advice

    Hi guys, I know this is a vec c forum but i have a problem with my vec b its a 2.5 v6 and when the weather is very cold as it is now when i start her she will rev from 1000 to 2000 continuously for ages or untill i get a good speed up on the road i hope you can help as its doing my head in cheers in advance markf

    i changed the air flow meter on mine when it started playing up if i remember rightly. hth

    Could be the idle speed stepper motor sticking, happened on my vec B 1.8l. Try removing and cleaning it with carb cleaner. HTH

    Oddly enough WD40 is an excellent carb cleaner, especially if your rebuilding a pair of webbers

    well thanks guys took off offending idle speed valve, and soaked it in various solutions and potions, but i broke the bleeping gaskit so after a hastily made one from paper and a call to the vauxhall stealers to price a new gaskit..... the price was so reasonable i ordered 2 they were £0.72 each. so its back on and fingers crossed touch wood it seems to be ok forgot to say i asked the parts advisor in vauxhall the price of said idle speed valve drum roll please £218

    Yep another fault but an easily fixed one. £218 is rediculous !!

    Glad its ok mate, I miss my 2.5

    I got a idle speed stepper motor from Autovaux was only £45 (a few years ago) and it was a genuine siemens unit. There was a modified stepper motor produced, the siemens number on the end was suffixed with a 'X'.
