    Default Z19dth EGR failed again!!

Just had my service done and on the way there the exhaust emissions light came on (little picture of an engine in the bottom right of the console). Vx tell me its the EGR valve again (only replaced under warranty 18 months ago) and they want £260 to fit a new one for me.

My tame mechanic has offered to take it out and clean it for a lot less than that, and I'm going to give it a go before having to put an EGR in it (still for a lot less than Vx quoted).

My question is...... will the light on the dash reset itself after the fault is sorted, or will I need it tech 2'd? ..... if so...... does anyone in the midlands got a tech2?!!!!

Just to ask the obvious..... Your car has been updated to not show a light when it is doing the DPF-cleaning process?

If related to EGR, the error-code will probably have to be cleared out by either a Tech-2 or other faultcode-reader/reset device.

If it is the EGR, they cost £106 including gaskets, new delivered to your door.
Replacement takes about 20 mins just need a small flat bladed screwdriver a 10mm and 13mm socket.

If its the emissions light thats staying on then a battery disconnect should clear it
Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services

The emmissions light may go out itself providing the cause of the fault has been sorted. £260 for the EGR valve?? Stupid money it cost about £120 from the dealer and takes next to no time to fit with a decent socket set.

My emissions light went off the last time if I remember well...As for the price they're looking for fitting the EGR,don't even think of it,daylight robbery that ,you could get the ferry over here for that price and I'll fit it in 20 mins.
