Default Look at my throttle body. Is this a mess?

Hey folks, before I de-coked dad's car, I undid the throttle body pipe to see what it was like. Couldnt see inside so just took a picture. I messed about with the butterfly flap and that moves OK, but is this a mess and does it need cleaning, IF SO, what with?

Please let me know if this could also have been contributing to lack of low down power?

    Thanks.

You choice, I have used a rag soaked in petrol and an old toothbruch to get into the corners etc, some people say carb cleaner. Any hydrocarbon based liquid will do it.

Your car may rev a little for a few seconds after you have done it (mine did anyway)

You should have seen the mess in the throttle body on my 3.0 lol...Cleaned the whole intake manifold and it didn't make a difference. Same with the 2.2DTi.

Didn't make a difference? def would of put forward needing new one because of swirl flaps.

How long did it take to do your intake manifold, i was gonna give it a go, did you get a new gasket set?

Use a drop of carb cleaner, had a similar thing on my old MG ZS, bought it up nice and clean combined with a microfibre cloth and toothbrush.

Blimey! I would certainly say that's a mess!

As suggested, get some carb cleaner and give it a good clean. A toothbrush also is quite handy, just don't drop it down there!
