    Default Liverpool's Snow Chaos

After taking nearly 2 hours to get into Stockport on Tuesday morning for work, I left early to get back to Wirral. As it happened I sailed home even stopping at Preston Brook for a photo or two the roads were that clear:

So I thought I know, I'll pop over to Liverpool. I got into town at 2 pm just as the big snow hit. Oh dear I thought! I got to the Pier head in 30 minutes (3miles?) and Decided Time to go.....It took me another 7 hours to get out of Liverpool!

After 5 hours, I could see the tunnel but the police closed the road and sent us on a 4 hour detour. Sod that I headed for Runcorn and out.

What amazed me was how bad peoples driving was. Too many heavy right feet meaning cars were blocking even the slightest hill. Merc and beamers with auto boxes made me chuckle. They sat at the lights with their foot on the brake leaving the rear wheels spinning on the spot then wondered why they couldn't move when the lights went green. Taxi drivers trying to charge through lines of traffic.

In the end rules of the road went to pot people ignored red lights, used bus lanes, ignored no entry signs. Its no surprise the city ground to a halt. I got onto Edge lane at 7.30 ish and was the only car heading out of town. From then on I was fine. Runcorn Bridge was clear as was the M56.

I stayed home yesterday, Brimstage Rd in Heswall wasn't gritted and is like glass now. I saw a gritter on Storeton Hill (A small single track lane), But they can't grit the main route from M53 to Heswall (which is also the councils defined HGV route for Netto).

This morning Heswall was -10, and Manchester Airport -12.

    RANT OVER!

Personally I had no problems with the conditions....It was the blocked roads.....(Blood starts to boil again!)

The Council didn't grit the roads - FACT. Driving into Liverpool from the northern suburbs the road conditions deteriorated as soon as you crossed the City boundary. An absolute disgrace.

How many millions do we give Liverpool in Tunnel Fees them. Liverpool even expected Wirral to pay for its Trams!

I feel for you! I used to do that drive 5 times a week as I'm from Stockport and work by the airport, but the ex is from Liverpool so used to drive every day from there in to work. It was bad enough on a good day, never mind when the weathers like this!
