    Default Should I go for 1.9cdti (150)

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice, decided that its time for a change and am thinking of trading in my 53 plate vectra c sri 2.2 for a 58 plate facelift vectra sri 1.9 cdti (150). its done 11K
Have read alot of posts about problems with DMF and swirl valves etc, have these problems been sorted out on the newer models, or should I think again??
Any advice/experiences woud be welcome, driving myself crazy trying to decide!!

They are a cracking car mate, but be prepared for expense.
I bought mine on 26,000 miles, under full Network Q Warranty, with full service history.

Engine related ive so far had: New Injector wiring, and an EGR Valve, and some software update.

But im still having issues now with poor fuel consumption, and im getting dry patches of oil around the 4th swirl, signifying the manifold is most likely on its way. (Hence poor consumption).

On top of that my DMF has just started rattling, complete with a slight buzzing noise at the biting point of the clutch. So this will require DMF, clutch/Flywheel.

Im going to get as much sorted under warranty as possible, then take out an extended warranty afterwards.

Other than that its superb, but these problems do seem to add up.

My older 1.8, never had any engine issues, other than a failing water pump. The clutch was getting due as well, as i had clutch judder but bear in mind it had done 76,000 by that point, and would probably gone a lot further.

I'm thinking the fiat alfa engine is not a bullet proof unit as the older dti's are my mates 120 cdti needed new turbo egr alternator software problems etc with only 45k on the clock needless to say it's gone the journey.I havent got any faith in these cdti units another mate 150 cdti egr maf dmf clutch 33k now the turbo.my old 2.0 dti 128k still going strong and my 2.2 dti 75k ok for now touch wood.I love the vectra c but dont think I'l be getting another when mines due for renewal :-(

Its a great engine if looked after ! It does have its problems, but the one thing that made me more positive is that there are loads around, and a forum is a place people come to seek advice for problems. You dont get posts saying, Look at my DMF and manifold, no problems yet lol !!! Go for it.

they're not bad whilst under warranty. i've just done 35k on mine out of warranty and no major problems - except the alternator which just failed but it's done 95k so i'm not too upset by that.

great car... lovely to drive... sri handles brilliantly... a tuning chip or remap will see you close to 200 horse. overall worth it IMO.

Go for it, the 58 plate cars are the ones to go for as any issues in the past have been cured.

I am on my fourth 1.9 150 and covered near on 200,000 miles in them, only an injector fault on my current car has been the only problem.

They are a good engine. Just avoid supermarket diesel and the pump injectors etc will last a whole lot longer.
