    Default engine idle on the 150 cdti

    my car has started to idle as if its about to cut out then gose back to normal, happens sometimes when i'm slowing down for lights or something and i put it into netral or the clutch in. spoke to my remap man but he said it was a vx problem not his remap, its going in for a service on the 16th so i'll get them to look at it just if any of you knew what it might be?

    swirl bar,egr valve,boost sensor, check these + clean, all can be found in the how 2's.

    Hi mate,


    I had similer issues just before my manifold died on me. I'd most def check all of the above EGR valve etc...

    The above link is a brief account of how happy I was when I changed my manifold. However, you need to get to the bottom of the issue before speculating on such things as a new manifold. It could just need an internal clean - a good old flush out.

    Also - see the below thread. It has a pic in it of my old manifold, if you have any play at the top of any of the valves, you may have an issue with the manifold. What I mean by that is (not to sound patronising) if you can pull at the top of any valve, so it moves up and back down again, even a few mil, the chances are that you valves are dieing.

    no worries fella - just muckin.. as long as the pics all help..

    On topic - agree it certainly could be the inlet and suggest checking that the bar hasnt fallen off...
    Note: it falls off as the ball joints wear due to excessive up and down movements of the swirl flaps themselves, causing the gum up of the valves. This excessive up and down movement is due to wear on the bearings.. the new inlet is supposed to address these two wear areas.

    Another possible cause is the injectors.. I needed a set of 4 due to iratic idle - once replaced the car was amazingly smooth.. (this was after the inlet was replaced after the rod fell off too)

    Tech2 can test the injectors i believe for flow and functionallity.

    well its under warranty lol so all get them to fix it its going in for a service on the 16th .
