    Default ABS light on.

I've just come in from work but had a lot of bother driving into our estate as it's on a slight incline. I managed toget the car moving (facelift 1.9cdti estate by the way) by slipping it in 2nd and turning the wheel from lock to lock. After a bit of spinning and furious hand work, i got going and pulled up on the drive. I then noticed the ABS light was on. It stayed on after turning off and back on, and no codes came up on my code reader (MaxiDiag FR704... any good?)
Would excessive wheel spinning throw an ABS fault up? Will it reset after a while by itself, or have something 'Gone'?

halow mate, hd the samebotha with mt 2.0T Signum, its due to the wheels spinning and packing the sensors with ice, just wait till it thaws out a little, then once uve drove bout 10 yrds the light should go off mate, let me know how it goes pal!

That code reader won't show up anything other than generic engine codes - so it won't show up ABS codes.

I had both my ABS and TC lights on on Monday. I got the code read (£10 at a local independant VX specialist) and it said something to do with the voltage on the front left wheel speed sensor. I took the wiring connector (at the back of the wheelarch) for the sensor apart and found it was full of water. They don't seem to seal very well. I dried it out, put some electrical contact cleaner in then dried that out, put it back together and it's fine now.

There are about 50 fault codes for the ABS, TC, and wheel speed sensors so a fault code will help to point you in the right direction. You might want the check the 2 front wheel wiring connectors anyway though.
