I would lay odds on the weight of the engine over the front wheels, Diesels have always been heavier than petrols,

I will await shooting for this lol

i thought that, is it really that much heavier than the petrol.

off the subject, my 2.2 was in for service and i have had a insignia 1.8 for a few days , i thought the 1.8 insignia had more grunt than my 2.2, would that be right as well?

thats a thought the 2.2 has the xp 1 pack with the 17's they have bridgstones on about a month olda nd 5000 mile on but the 1.9 has the original goodyear 16's and has only done 8000 since i bought it new.

The 2.2 is a company car with 55000 miles on, just had pads and discs all round at sherwoods stockton , but the ******s would not tell me what the bill was. really annoys me that

The other thing is that the estate's rear-end may be heavier, thus "lifting" the front end...?

I would be very worried, if the 1.8 Insignia was better "grunt" than your 2.2 mate.

I've got a 1.9 CDTi SRi estate and it's crap in this weather and hate driving it, Take tonight I drove 16 miles home and took me over an hour to get home (I don't drive like a numpty in this weather thought i'd clear that up ) and at one point I was going up a slight incline in 3rd gear no trottle and full lock and started to loose traction and just sat there spining I did manage to get home though so my thoughts on the veccy C estate is poor in the snow!! my girlfriends 1.7 CDTi Astra is so much better to drive.

Thats what i thought, my 2.2 seems flat as anything i have ever driven, but the garage say theres nothing wrong with it.

My 1.9 cdti seems like a rocket compared
