Default VXR gearbox on a 3.2

    Hi all,

I was reading a spot on the 3.2Gsi in a Magazine i am sure we are all aware of and i noticed in there a bit saying you could fit the 6speed gearbox from the vxr to the 3.2.
Ok i know the engine itself is fairly similar but has anyone done it and would there be any advantage to it ie. higher final drive to make it better on fuel on long runs?
Or better still has anyone done it and can give there input?

    thanks,

    thanks,

I think the only similarities are the fact they both have 6 cylinders....the rest is very different.........Though fitting the gearbox is probably possible, but wouldnt have thought it will be easy

The VXR gearbox won't fit. You can use the 2.0T's F40 gearbox but you will also need the 1.9 CDTi bell housing. So a big job and the use of two gearbox's.

But......................althought the gearbox will fit, it is not clear which flywheel/clutch will be needed.

Would also have a very similar final drive so probably not that worth while.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Even if cruising fuel economy was improved dramatically, the cost of the conversion would take a LONG time to recover from fuel economy benefits only.

Probably a fairly pointless exercise in my book.
