    Default Strut brace question...

I've had a look through the old threads about the strut brace but can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.

My strut brace turned up the other day and I though I'd measure it up etc... make sure it would fit. On the nearside (passenger) top strut it has some 'pipes' attached to it. Obviously these are just in the way of me fitting it without making some modifications. Can anybody tell me what these are and if you think I even need to have it attached to the mount or could I remove it and fit my strut brace?

    (1.9 CDTi 16v engine)

Andsaw has fitted a strut brace to his car so he might be able to help. Ive seen it and it looks very good and Im sure he had to do a few modds to make it fit

Will a strut brace affect the Vectra much? I asked about these when I had a Mk4 astra and was told that with the strut towers being so close to the welded firewall, that it wouldn't affect the rigidity much. Just curious.

I would agree with that totally. A strut brace is to reduce turret deflection, esp on hard cornering. If the turrets are effectively attached the to bulkhead, then deflection will be minimal anyway and a strut brace won't have to do very much.

I'm not really asking if it makes a difference or not, just would like to know what these 'pipe' things are that are attached to the nearside turret?

Sorry, I was just asking out of my own curiosity as I would have considered one for my own Vectra if it made much difference to the stiffness/handling. It wasn't an attempt to poo-poo your idea. Apologies if it came across that way.

Nah don't worry about it mate, I must have the grumps today sorry

I've had mixed reviews from people saying that it makes a difference and some say they can't really tell. Thought I'd buy one myself and make my own mind up. (It only cost £70 so cheaper than from LMF )
