Default Peugeot 106 problems need help

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I have a 99 reg 106 Quicksilver for my son to learn in.

Recently it has started missing after running about 4-5 min if I am driving along it splutters and then clears quickly and never misses a beat again. If however I am stopped for any reason or driving slowly when it starts spluttering and I try an accelerate nothing happens and seems to over fuel as you can smell the petrol but no acceleration. It normally then stalls and struggled to start again.

It has over 100000 miles however only had one owner who serviced it well and I have had it for over a year between both sons.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Vectra hasn't missed a beat so far this winter but struggling on the ice with no TC.
    Cheers

It may be a coil pack breaking down , I'm pretty sure the renaults have pencil coils on the plugs , and I've seen a few of those misfiring , so I imagine pugs would be the same .

These 106 cars and the saxo have an inherant problems with ECU's as they are the same drivetrain. This also cause running problems.

    I had a 106 and later a 306....

I think it's the lambda sensor, Im pretty sure that year of 106 will have one and it will cause the exact faults you describe.

yeah thinking back my RS2000 had those symptoms and it turned out to be lambda fault. you can test the plugs, leads and coils easily enough, but normally when they break down the problem is there most of the time. the lambda sensor causes the problem after a few minutes due to it needing to get to temp before it starts to operate.
