    confused pug 206

Hi guys........need your help. my father has a pug 206(for his sins) and when he started it today to warm up on idle-he went out ten mins later and was in red on temp gauge - no fan kicked in ............but he is 70 yrs old and scared to drive it!

would I be right in thinking eng temp sensor or have any of you guys had a similar experience to this? any help appreciated.

p.s appologies admin if this is wrong section to post this,

    thanks in advance Andy

Could be the temp sensor or even the fan motor. Connect the motor straight to the battery to eliminate it first

could be afaulty gauge, try starting it when you know it has been sat overnight and see if the gauge goes straight ot the red wihtout it even having time to get that hot.

    no John its 1.4 auto
it was just on idle on his drive-frightened to death of driving it, did it after ten mins of tickover............want to get it sorted for him as my parents live miles from any public transport and are isolated where they live......

does any one know if a code reader that fits mine will fit that and give me any errors?
    thanks again

One that works on yours should work ok on the pug as it'll be obd2. Give it a try although I'm not sure if it'll give you a code.

Easiest process of elemination would be to start with the fan motor though as its easy to test
