...but I think my steering issues are sorted! My trusty mechanic traced the fault to a loose switch / wiring connection socket near the steering wheel, that had come loose. He secured it, and so far, so good! He also checked all the steering pump, fuses and other connections and it's fine!

So far, so good on the drive home, and I've yet to see that light on the dash. I'll see how she does over the next week then I'll know the fault is gone.

And there is no such thing as a Power Steering ECU, the Vec only has the main Engine ECU (somewhere located on the driver's side in the bumper), so that first dealer was lying to me

Cost? £120, compared to a hefty £1K from the stealers....
