Holy crap, has the top mount disintegrated
That's what you get for going off-roading in it!
Thats pretty bad....
Has it damaged the bonnet too? If not, then a simple replacement of the whole strut would be easy and needn't cost the earth. It may be tricky getting the spring off though, I would advise fitting spring clips whilst the spring is compressed on the car.
I wouldn't drive it very far though, even after pushing the damper rod back down. !
How on earth did that happen?
Was on my way to pick up mum from work, since the brakes on her Signum have given up the ghost. Then on the motorway at 60mph I noticed the bonnet jumping a bit, so I stopped to check if it was open, but it wasn't! Popped it up and...you see the picture...
Clear away the leaves while you are about it m8 pleased you & mum were ok ........
It makes me wonder sometimes is anything that gm make really up to the job it is designed for .
then again you could look on the bright side with the strut sticking up like that at least the top nut should be easy to undo.
Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
and still loving it
It might even be my fault this. I had an accident 2 months ago and replaced the wishbone thing on that side...maybe the shock knocked it out a bit? It was fine until a couple of days ago.
