Default Had a shock last night!

Disclaimer: The following events all happened on a private track and the roads were closed.

Having just bought my Signum and not owning a car this quick before I decided that a Sunday evening was the best time to test it's capabilities
So me and one of my friends go for a drive where the usual boy racers hang out to see if I could wipe the floor with a VTR or something.

As I'm driving along the long straight private road, I see behind me a Corsa speeding towards me and then sitting right up my arse, as it goes to overtake I obviously slammed into second and floored it and ruined him, so when I get to the private roundabout ahead I go round a few times to let him pass me, this is where it gets scary, he screams down a very thin country road with loads of bends and I can barely keep up with him, he cornering so well. As we finally reach the straight at the end I pull up behind him and lo and behold what I see on the back of his car...

    L Driving Instructor L

It actually made my day, no wonder s/he was such a brilliant driver.

Driving instructors aren't necessarily good drivers, more often than not they're some sap who got sucked in by the promise of a £30k a year job.

They know the rules of the road and that's about it, the guy you "raced" seems to have broken a few of them.

Just cos he / she's a driving instructor does not make them a good driver...
In some instances in fact, the opposite is the case...

Oh I wasn't meaning to generalise that all driving instructors are terrific drivers, just that this particular one was ;p And my driving instructor, and she's also my next door neighbour was a rally driver before being an instructor, so can definitly say she's a good driver ;p

In my experience, more often than not I would say driving instructors are bad drivers. I know of one who cannot reverse down our drive and another that hits the curb everytime when parallel parking!

Met another instructor last year. He was coming the opposite way and we were in a large van with a 18FT trailer. It was a dual lane road, but we could not pass. He argued that for some legal reason he had right of way and we should have to reverse. He refused to move and made us back up for about 200m with no rear visabilty, in the dark, up hill.

Ok perhaps he had right of way, but common sense would say the car (a vauxhall corsa so hardly hard to reverse) should reverse. (it would have also been quicker) I think they are too caught up with the 'rules' to have this common sense, which i think is more important.
