Smile revs not dropping when changing gear

    hello again

Had this problem for a while now where by when I change gear the revs dont drop as as soon as I lift the of the gas and dip the clutch resulting in poor gear changes ( they do drop but not quickly enough)

Its worse between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd when pulling out in to fast traffic when you need to take the revs past 4000

    Any ideas?

Ive seen the how2 on cleaning the TB, do you think this would help it?

    Thanks

I wonder if cleaning the Air control valve might cure the problem, as it might be gunged up or sticking.

I had this too, to start with i changed the way i drove, lifted off before depressing clutch. I then had it checked on diagnostics, it apparently is a issue of "overrun", that can just be changed on obdII iirc.

Thats how it is on the 2.2 mate, there is no ICV on the 2.2's so cant be that. Its the downside of the fly by wire TB. If you have the sports button it does alter it but if not there's not much you can do but get used to it.

Hmmm not sure I can get used to it lol, surely it didnt leave the factory like it. I had an Alfa 147 before which also had FBW controls but I never had any issues with that. I dont have the sports button so a no go there

    and whats an obdII iirc?

It's part of the throttle damping algorythm. To get a smooth and relaxing cruise at higher speeds (ie motorway) the throttle is damped, which means that you may see a small rise in RPM when initially pressing clutch and lifting off acc pedal. Normal and you can't really do much about it. Sport button reduces the throttle damping
