    Default Oil Treatment & Change

    Morning all,

Just braved the outside and started the car first time and very happy, I may be looking for a problem that don't exist but there is a very faint tap. Heard on a similar car (think it was an X20XEV) and this was some hydraulic lifters. Some Wynn's treatment did the trick and it never seemed that bad again.

The car needs an oil change, the oil isn't bad, jit's not tar but I want to change anyway. As they always say "Better to be safe than sorry" and at least I know the history then.

When should I add the Wynns? Before and run it for a bit, or after?

I would've thought before so I can make sure the only thing going back in is the clean fresh Vauxhall Oil.

Oil change every 10K miles, nothing more than that required

The X20XEV was a fairly bomb proof petrol engine
I sold mine (a 1998 SRI) at 6 years old with 120K miles on it
However mine picked up a horrendous idling problem at 70K miles hat was never correctly diagnosed or solved (two replacement IAC valves under warranty and the breather mod)
Sadly that put me off VX for several years, as a relative also had a problem with a Vectra B (failed EMS and three EGR valves)

Didn't the X20XEV have the common problem with snapped manifold studs that lead to the tapping noises.... my old 2000 SRi 140 had this.

I tend to change my oil more often as my car sometimes only gets used once or twice a week, it's not run regular. For me to do 10K would take probably nearly 2 years, I think that's too long without a change irrespective of mileage.

My X20XEV was quieter after the treatment, but yes they have numerous problems. I think they were one of the first Vauxhalls to have the EGR device and basically cause havoc from that point on?

Once a year is enough for low mileage, but equally that would be inline with service interval
