    Default Lowering Springs

I've been pondering the idea of decking the Veccy. 30-40 mm or something. The top mounts sound like they need replacing as it's creaking a little over speed bumps soooooo it's just a bad excuse to get some springs lol...

I know "technically" you replace the springs you replace the shocks but is this really necessary?? I'm not sure really.. been pondering the idea. I was looking at a set of eibachs for it. Are they good for the Vec's or are any other brands recommended??

cruize ive got the elite and the ride was a bit soft so i just changed the springs with eibachs which frimed it up and lowered it kept the standard shocks. you have the sri so it is already lowered by 15 mm so buy putting eibachs on you will only get another 15 mm .some guys have gone 45/60 mm but think you need to change the shocks with them maybe wrong.

Yep spot on, and lower than 30 on a standard vec means new shocks

If you have an sri you'll be ok with 40-50mm as they have shortened shocks

I have eibachs on mine and wouln't have anything else

I think it was danboy who has 40/45mm lowering springs on standard shocks (or did have!) and had no trouble with them for alot of miles.

i used spax springs. they were for the 1.8 so mine bein the 2ltr dti dropped about 60 mm at the front but only 30 mm at the back. am goin to scrap yard to get a set of back springs out of the astra I saw an omega with the astra springs and it sits perfect.

A vote for -45 PI's here. I have them on standard SRi shocks (albeit new ones) and the ride is awesome and it sits perfectly IMO, if a bit hairy now I have my Irmy splitter fitted
