    Default camera/photo advice required

Hi folks, i'm on the lookout for a new camera at the moment. Will be going to florida in may with the family and i would like to get one that is easy to use and takes good shots both day and night. I've currently got a Nikon coolpix which takes great photos in daytime but are really poor at night, no matter what settins i change nothing seems to work.
So i would appreciate any recommendations or other advice offered.
    Thanks
    Tommy

Have a look at the Canon S5is, I've got the s3is and it's brilliant, the s5 is the update. Almost like an SLR but without the lenses. Takes fantastic photos and easy to change settings for more artistic shots.

Take a look at the Fujifilm S2000HD (cost about £180)
I bought mine 6 months ago
It's a hybrid camera, works like a SLR but without all those lenses

I was concerned about battery life (as my previous digital camera used to eat batteries), however 4 traditional batteries will easily take 50 photos / 4 x 10 minute videos and rechargeable batteries up to 4 times that

Even if the digital camera has internal memory, purchase at least one additional memory card
Rather than keeping them, transfer them to an online storage or email them whilst on holiday
When on holiday I take my laptop and transfer them that way

the TZ7 is indeed an excellent camera, but its a compact (ish) P&S, (If my compact breaks I would buy a TZ7 to replace it) & does not offer much in the way of manual settings & cannot be compared to a DLSR.

going off-topic slightly (sorry to hijack thread) the below can be had for around £200, saving around £60 but will i get stung on state tax (is that just NY for internet sites?) or anything else if I was to buy whilst in Florida ? pretty sure I can get round customs on the way back so not worried about that
