    Default strange dash electrical fault

I've got one problem that after using the steering for a bit the traction control light comes on then the steering wheel comes on the dash with a "!" through it. I think thats a CIM fault.

These last couple of days the battery light either falshes or stays on for a bit with the abs light, taction control light and the dials/gauges stop working. I haven't got a clue where to start looking. Has anyone else expirienced this at all or could give me some pointers to what the problem could be

    cheers in advance

More problems today. The lights are all still coming on but i switched the car off and went into the petrol station. When i came out the car wouldn't start and could only hear clicking. Rolled it forward a bit to bump start it and couldn't get rolling fast enough. Tried the key again and started.

Is it pointing to the CIM causing all of this?

Also try looking for a dirty ABS plug, I had the same problem and cleaning the plug solved it. Its a common fault along with the CIM on early Vec C's

I'll check the alternator tomorrow. Need to check the abs plug also. Then i think it's time to get the CIM replaced

Another thing i had was that i couldn't turn the rear heated screen on either just before it refused to start and i've read about that somewhere also

I've been putting off the CIM for a while. I had a friend check on op-com and it came up steering angle sensor but hasn't come up for ages so forgot about it.

The recent problem with the battery warning light and not starting has made me want to sort it now.

I'm checking the plug first as it seems when the car jolts or goes over a bump the dials start working again then the car/spanner light comes on.

If I remember correctly, I have heard of few main causes for this type of fault...

First and cheapest = Check and clean the ABS Module plug.

Second = check wires to / from the battery, earth points and alternator / starter connections for security and cleanliness.

Third = Could the Battery be on it's way out. (Sluggish starting in the recent cold weather)

As Cerbrious said above...Don't even think of the CIM module except as a last resort!! - Too damned expensive.
