    Default headlights

i've had my veccy since july and last night i was driving home through the wilds of shropshire and it became apparent to me how shockingly bad the vectras headlights really are, my mind was made up that i am definately getting me some hid's asap......what would you recommend and where from................. also does anyone on this forum who's done this conversion to a facelift veccy fancy earning some money cos i'm more than happy to pay someone to do it as i'm a bit of a ham fisted clumsy sod when it comes to anything technical..............

I thought exactly the same as you before I tried it myself, but it really is easy.

Just pluging a few cables together, making a hole in your light covers and then sticking the lights in and sticking the ballasts somewhere. If you have small hands you don't even have to take out the washer bottle neck or airbox.

Best kit from a general consensus seems to be from HIDs-Direct, plus you get discount if you quote the vec-c forums.

Trust me, this is sooooooo easy... the kit only goes together one way.

    **This isn't wind-up, I'm genuinely interested**

What other cars are you comparing the Vectra's headlights to?

I always thought the headlights on my SRi were more than adequate for hustling along B-roads, even in the dark ... the only car I've ever driven that I would say has appalling lights is the Renault Megane - and even that's only on dipped beam - the main beam is fine.

Im sure these HID kits are great for the driver using them but when i have one behind me on an un-lit b road, they are distracting and stupidly bright.

Im sure its a great luxury to drive at night with a tremendous beam of light in front of you but i prefer to think of other road users aswell as myself.

Can see ur point as I used to be a victim of oncoming HID's but if you angle the lights down a few notches instead of having them high it's not so bad. Just angle them up again when your on dark unlight roads.
