A little while back there was a big thread on reversing kits. Which I got lost in...

i have the number plate version on my van and think its rubbish, i fitted a set (four sensor kit in the bumper about £30) that i bought from euro car parts who do german car parts and they work well i didn't use the LCD display i just tucked it behind my glove box and relie on the bleeping which is more than enough i wouldn't feel comfortable looking at something on top of my dash while reversing, all i use it for is that final couple of feet, as the vectra "c" don't have good visibility through the back windows.

Cheers SignumT, That's the thread I was on about. Got a bit lost as to who bought what etc! A simple summary is all I'm after for now.

I posted in that thread about having the Vx aftermarket kit (made by Bosch) which was fine. After my rear-end rearrangement the dealer fitted a new kit, but they had stopped using the VX kit as they'd had a few come back with problems (mine had always been fine).

They now fit a Cobra kit and it is much better. The reversing bleeper is much louder (which was my only real complaint with the VX one). If I got in the car when it was hot, the climate control would kick the fan onto fast which made it difficult to hear the bleeper so I'd have to turn the fan down, or if I had the windows wound down and it was a bit noisy outside I'd have to wind them up. Not big things, but just a bit of a pain.

With the Cobra kit I can have the windows open, CC fan blasting away and still hear the bleeper - which is great. Something to bear in mind as inevitably with these aftermarket kits the control box/bleeper is (more then likely) going to be stuck behind one of your rear quarter panels .

I've also found that this new kit is even more sensitive than the Vx kit - which is another bonus!

I have the steel mate front & rear sensors, they're the same as what Halfrauds sell & out of all the sensors we've supplied in the past they're my personall favourite, they have a feel of quality about them although all the ones on ebay around the £30 do look identical as they all come from far east but haven't seen any off ebay up cloase to compare them.
