Knocking

Trying to source where it is coming from, every time i turn the steering i get a knocking noise, and every time i go over speed bumps.

Am i right in thinking i have a broken spring?


Also another problem i have, is when i turn my steering from lock to lock, my lights dim, does that mean i have a alternator that is on it way out?

headlamps are normal due to electric powersteering. could just be anti rolllink arms jack it up and have a good look for play and worn joints

If it were a spring there wouldn't be too much of a 'knocking' but when you turn the wheel it would resist then give way with a 'PRONG' sound where the coil springs back. At least thats what happened to me.
Over speed bumps I could say a top mount is on its way out.....?
Could be a few suspension problems to be honest....

More than likely an anti roll bar drop link. Also check the top radiator mounts as they can make a knocking sound too

Anti Roll bar as John said would be the normal culprit, I seem to have the same thing, seemed to bang a lot when no ice and the car was losing traction, could feel a prong!!
