    Default 50 to70mph times

early this morning I had my very last chance to give my cars a testing off the queens highway,, as I had already done the flat out speeds etc, I decided to test the 50mph to 70mph times,, this came out at 6.6 seconds in third gear average over three runs, I think you will agree not a fast time,, but a well respected mate says this is a good time for a 1.8 vec, his 1,8 vvt, goes 8 seconds, so,,,what do you think.. PS,, My car went 87 mph in third at the red line, faster than I thought it would. any thoughts..

pps, when I first got this vec I had the speedo checked by a calibrated "SOLO" 50 MPH was bang on. 70 MPH was a true 69 mph.

50 to 70mph, in third gear only
I will need to arrange that when the roads are free of ice!

I have a feeling us 3.2 types and the 3.0 boys will be grabbing onto this one very soon too

I reckon my time for this will be under 5 seconds (I might need to grab a drunk off the street during the next few days to help get this accurate)
Equally, if I can find a road with a good downhill section...

my passenger was a big fat 8 stone, thats why my time is slow, NOT because it's a humble 1.8 I would be interested in your times,,thanks ANT. any engine.

This is something Spoons started a while ago. It would be interesting to see what his times are now. 2.66 seconds looks to be the benchmark.

There is of course, a possible addition to this one... at least for the V6 (maybe others).... we can safely make it to 70 in 2nd, so 50 to 70 in 2nd gear on the flat might be an interesting time too ?
