Default connecting to the car to read fault codes etc

what gizmo would i need to buy to read fault codes etc on a 2004 2.0 dti signum?

I've tried the brak/accelerator and key method.

Is there a low cost method of pairing a newkey with the car?

there are cables on ebay you can buy for about £25 that lets you connect your laptop up for reading codes or if you don't have a laptop you can buy a code reader.

I tend to find either would pay for itself with one use rather than paying a stealer to do it for you.

Pairing a key would need Tech2, you could either pay a stealer to do it or see if anyone on here in your area has one and would help you for a cup of tea and a crate of beer

If you bought cable for laptop mentioned above there is apparently some software you can obtain that might let you pair a key but I don't think we're allowed to talk about it on here
