Losing instruments

I have had a prob for a while now where after a while I lose my dash board instruments and things like my cruise control refuse to work. My wipers will also stop working but will work again once I hit the switch again.

The only way to get the gauges working again is by restarting the car and then alls well again for a short time, these repeated stops are not pratical as you can imagine.

Anyone got any ideas as to what could be causing this??

Vectra C 1.8 on an 02 plate.

Have a search for CIM problems, plenty of pointers.

Try removing and cleaning the abs plug also.
