    Default Remote start?

Anyone ever fitted one to a derv? I know its posible but was wondering how easy.....

At the moment I go out in the morning, Start my car then lock it with the spare key and leave it running. I would prefer to be able to just start it off the button. Lazy yes I know it would also have its coolness factor.

Seen this but was looking for something cheaper.

    Thoughts?

Oh and I never ever ever leave my car in gear..... ever.

I know its possible, Clifford alarms can do this as I'm sure many others can too. From what I remember it's not actually legal in this country.....something to do with a car must have a driver if its running? something like that, plus I'm sure insurance companies wouldn't be too happy with it either?

Yeah fair comment about the insurance. Policy would be void I guess.

But with the clifford system unless you put the key in it disables the car after 5 secs of motion and wont restart without the key in the ignition, plus the steering lock would be on still.

Bit more investigation is needed me thinks.

Its in the highway code, something about never being allowed to leave the car running with no-one in it. Although its been a while since I read it.

Yeah that's it but I'm sure a member on here got told by the police to cut his engine while he was sat in a car park.

Probably the The Road Traffic (Vehicle Emissions) (Fixed Penalty) (England) Regulations 2002 aka Stationary Idling Offence, another one of those bits of legislation slipped through by the government.

And if you didn't leave it in gear, chances are the handbrake will fail and your car will crash into a wall as well.

my fiesta had a Clifford G5 Solaris alarm with remote start. the best gadget u can ever get, im in 2 minds whether i should remove it and install in the Veccy. but a while back i heard an announcment made in Argos because i left my car running in the car park while i went to pick something up, the police gave me a lot of lip, i just told them to **** off bcoz my alarm had all sorts of safety cut off devices. such as before u leave the car, u have to be in neutral, handbrake up, then programme the car before u step out. then u arm the car. and basically, if clutch, brake, alarm, tilt or revs etc etc go off then the engine just cuts off. i really miss my alarm in this ****** freezing weather!

    PaZ!
