Default Cannot Connect With any OBD Tools

Hi There - First post so bear with me

    Firstly - I have an:
    Elm 327 1.2a (Original)
Fully registered copy of Vauxcheck (I have a Corsa C also)
Copy of EngineCheck LE to trial (direct from Gendan)

I'm trying to connect to the ECU on a Veccy C 1.8 2002 "Half CAN" model - but it is *the* most stubborn car I've connected to I've worked with Citroens, Volkswagens, Skodas and other Vauxhalls and I just cant get this car to connect!

Basically I know there are a pile of fault codes in the car (doing the manual brake/acellerator method) but I just want to clear them all down, take the car for a run and recheck for active codes.

    Now with the problem:
Vauxcheck is *not* compatible with this car, got it direct from Gendan - because it is EOBD compliant the software only talks the proprietary Vaux Language. Although a new version is scheduled for 2010 to fix this. I had been suggested to try EngineCheck LE So I have, this is the error I get:

    Connecting...
    Opening COM1...
    Port open OK
    Found interface ELM327
    Connecting to car...
Connection failed. Error Type: No Data Error
    Disconnected

And that is only if I select the CAN 29bit 500kbaud setting, the dash cluster pings and flashes the ABS light momentarily when it connects at this point aswell (I suppose from it crashing and "rebooting")

    So Anyone able to help?

I have tried "other" free tools but to be honest I prefer using gendan products, low cost for the home user, and much more professional and does what it says on the tin.

I know I can go back to Gendan, but I wanted to know if this is common on this model and if theres a"Trick".

Sorry for the War and Piece! Just wanted to make sure the facts were there!

I'm not familiar with the tools you refer to, but what happens if you try using 11 bit CAN identifiers?

It never connects to the point of being able to read any data unfortuanately....

I've tried all the obvious protocols individually all the CAN's and the OBD's that I know wont particularly damage anything.

Angel Tuning had the same issue as you have trying to connect up to my old 52 plate 2.0DTi, he told me that it wasnt an original VX ECU on it, and it was a _CAN model, basically once vauxhall build there quota of vectra's, they then tender out a contract for more ECU's - cheapest wins i take it , but you dont know anything about this until you connect it up

So he told me, dont flame me

Ah sorry, hope I didnt come across as flaming you! No idea on how you can tell at all do you? do you have to look at the ECU by hand?

Its a very early 02 plate so one of the first to roll out and has pretty much every "Common Fault" on the sticky here

I would have thought that Gendan themselves are your best source of advise and expertise - as you have registered versions of their software you'll probably need to wait until their 2010 updates are available. They clearly seem to be on top of the problem, it just takes time.

Nah thats fair enough - but its worth a heads up - that the software doesnt seem to work at the moment. Thing is 2010 is not far away but is 52 weeks long!

Thanks for the heads up guys, appreciate the help.

Now to find a man with a cable & software
