Two broken front springs

I was driving the wifes Vectra this afternoon. We went over a speed bump (don,t you just love these things). There was the dreaded "BOING" noise. From the left hand side.
Both Larisa,s and my heart sank. Do you think that is the spring she said. Hope not I replied.
On the way home I drove with the window open to listen the the now too familiar rattling noise. I could hear "the rattle" coming from the right!.
When we got home I jacked up the right handside.......... Yep a broken spring. By the look of the brake/fracture it had been broken for a while.
So I then jacked up the leftside where we heard the "boing" noise....Yep another broken spring on this side as well. Only the brake/fracture was fresh.
I have ordered a pair off Ebay and will be fitting them when they arrive.
I have lost count to how many front springs I have fitted to this motor. You never needed to replace springs on cars many years ago. They must be making them out of rubbish steel now a days.

we never fitted as many coil springs in the past because thier wasn't any fking speed humps i shouldn't complain though thier very good business for the motor trade

its been said before - the quality of build is terrible - there obvioulsy not "man" enough for the job - a real shame = and a pain in the bum to swap over wach time

That was what has been fited in the past. I wonder if they actually are inferiour to the VX ones.
Being an engineer. I am quite sceptical to the quality of their manurfacture. Irelivent of their individual brand/make.

Its because they are 'cold-rolled' therefore making them more brittle. Come the temperatures we are experiencing at the moment, they don't like it at all

Had the same noise the other day and now have a light rattle from the front. Seems to go away whens theres a passenger though.

Eibachs and B4's in a few weeks me thinks.

Same here, mines defimately broke aswell, possibly both - Love it !!??

They are not covered under warranty are they ?
