    Default 3.2 V6 running costs...

    Righto Chaps,

so looking at buying one, I do roughly 10k in a year... and was trying to work out what my monthly fuel bill would be?
    Any ideas?

Bit nervous about buying one... I'm only 22, so my insurance is going to be high too...

    Cheers

Well you can cut things slightly by using something like Tesco 95 UL most of the time... use your clubcard when you buy (get points).... pay using Tesco credit card (also a clubcard (more points)).... use your vouchers to offset some of the cost.

Or buy decent quality UL (Shell/BP, etc) and just drive sensibly most of the time (accelerate smoothly... use cruise, etc) and you can happily manage 1 tank/month.

Make sure you keep your tyre pressures correct... regular oil changes (I get mine 6 monthly at National for about £35) and don't keep junk in the car (unnecessary weight).

Having bigger financial restrictions now can actually prove to help you... by forcing you to think more about economical driving more than someone less worried about their fuel bills.

See, I even found a positive in this

Running on V-Power unleaded will give benefits in the long term as it will do more MPG. But it's not going to be cheap to run, the 2.0T would be a better compromise.

how are we defining cheap to run??

I'd be ok with £150 a month on Petrol...

And I can probably cut down a few miles and cycle to work

I had a fairly juicy MR2 before the Micra...

i had a gsi 3.2 v6 for 2 yrs and it was really good on fuel i thought, like mentioned above its all going to depend on how you drive it, and exactly what you use it for, also as mentioned may be worth looking into the 2.0 turbo there still a great car but cheaper again, and equally as rare as the gsi, when buying the gsi just check the usual things such as servicing and general mantinance, also make sure the cambelts been done on the gsi as they aint cheap to replace, so would add alot of money onto your monthly running costs.

Considered a 3.0 V6 CDTi? Just chucked a tuning box on mine and it's almost as fun to drive now as my 280BHP Astra VXR was
