Thumbs up How to tighten the Aux Belt ??

The Aux / Alternator belt is loose on my vectra 2.0 DTi and its making a screaching sound everytime I drive. I'm trying to get to the hex bolt that loosens the tensioner (located underneath the tensioner) so that I can reposition the tensioner pulley and then re-tighten it. The problem I am facing is getting the rachet and socket onto the hex bolt because there is no space and the tooll keeps hitting the framework.

Do I need a special tool or is there an easier way? Can some provide an how2 or step-by-step guide please.

The tensioner is self tensioning any way so you wont be able to adjust it, basically the little shock wears out and elongates the lower hole so im affraid a new one needed, just as well replace belt while your there.

Not exactly sure, think the tensioner comes complete with idler pulley as well and is about 80 quid, belt is about 30 but again not exactly sure on those mate.

Most common failure on the dti tensioner is that it seizes and doesn't self adjust. To change the tensioner (40-50 quid) you'll need a torx spanner as one of the two bolts is close to the chassis leg

Belt is around 20 quid from the stealers

£10.99 aux belt and around £30 - £40 for the drive/alternator belt tensioner, thats from a parts place, if you go to stealers it will be £58 for the tensioner and £15 for the belt

also if the belt wheel has excessive play in it that will be £25 from stealers

    hope that helps
