    Default Strut Brace?

So in the back of my ex-police Vectra, between the two rear suspension turrets (very close to the rear seats) there is a bar, it's like a steel box section bar, about 3/4 inch thick. Seems to be connected to the suspension turrets but TBH haven't had a proper look yet.

It does have two holes in about a third in on either side.

Perhaps dual-purpose, strut brace and something solid to bolt some sort of kit onto.

I haven't had any chance to chuck the car about a bit, what with the bad weather and needing new ARB bushes. So I don't know how well it handles yet.

Derbyshire police was the last owner, it's Silver. It seemed to have been kitted out as some sort of proper unmarked car due to bits left behind.

ALTHOUGH, had to laugh the guy selling it on said it was ex-MI6, I was thinking that it would seem odd for him to know that. Then got in and on the dashboard had sticker saying fleet M16 not MI6 some people are so dumb. Also having been with Derbytshire police it seemed highly unlikely that it would've been anywhere near MI6!

probable a fixing point for board they install for all the extra radio /video senders and receivers. These are fitted in most vehicles marked and unmarked.

It's a mounting bracket for the Police Radio that would have been fitted inside the car (Not the radio as that sits in the dash obviously but the sender / reciever). Big old things aren't they lol Pain in the arse for us as we have Astra's and they take up half the poxy boot so there is no where to put our kit inless u elbow drop it a few time and squash it all in lol.
The M16 would be the fleet number lol... MI6 hahaha. we use the MF prefix in Thames Valley followed by the number of the car. MF stands for Motor Fleet. so the fleet number for your car would be 16 which would have been on the roof if it was a marked one.

Seems to connect to the rear of each suspension turret, as I was surprised to see the turret is pretty much level with the back seat.

Question answered. I wonder if it does stiffen the rear end, being mounted at the struts.
