    Default Air con condensor fubar

Took it into vauxhall at 8am this morning they rang at 9.30 it's the condensor thats leaking on the sides of the unit it's split, have you heard this before?

There replacing it for free still in 3yr warranty i pay for re gas £48.00.

Asked about mot and service they seem cheaper than i expected telling me figures of £90-125 for a 20k service and can do good deal with mot.

so let me get this straight

they replaced the condensor under warranty because its faulty , but they make you pay for the regass ???

surely if a job is done under warranty all of the job is covered not just part of it

Id have thought so too. If the gearbox failed, under warranty, and shed all its oil would you expect to have to pay for them to refill the new box with new oil, I wouldn't.

Most warranty jobs dont cover consumables/fluids.

When my condenser died they replaced/refilled the system for free under warranty...

IMO if something has failed on the car under warranty, the warranty should cover any direct effects of that failure (in this case the venting of gas)

agreed that the fluids are consumables from the point of view of warrantyable claims... but all manufacturer warranties normally require you to drain and refill with the fluids that came out of the car and "top up" as necessary unless they are contaminated some how ..

so with ac you woudl evacuate - replace and refil ....

where ever i have made a claim under manufacturers warranty for AC rework/ repairs where they have condesnor replacement from a failure on a seem or at a rivet point they have been covered by the manufacturer .....INLCUDING REGAS

also where do they get their figure of £48.00 from ... all you should have to pay for according to them is for the refrigerant normally £1.04 per .1kg
and compressor oil is £1.17 for 10ml ? so in theory a tenner should cover the cost of parts ... they would be claiming the labour to replace the condendsor from VX which would cover degas/replace/regas ??

i woudl be querying why i am being asked to pay for parts /labour and if they still persist contact VX directly and ask for a copy of your warranty history which will probably show that there getting "two bites of the cherry"

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

I had new condensor fitted and re-gas done on warranty!! You shouldnt have to pay for the re-gas, as it wasnt your doing.
