Tool box required

Tool box required
Im thinking of getting one of the metal 6 / 7 whatever tray type tool boxes such as Seeley or Clarke do. I just want something to keep all my sockets together, got a few sets over the years then added deep sockets, torx sockets, and various accessories so that when I need sockets im getting so many different packs and sets out and then have to sort them to put them away.

I would prefer a bearing smooth type and would like to pay no more than £50 really, any suggestions - anyone got a tool box they really like ?

Have a look at Halfords Professional / Advanced range as they are very good and at the moment I have a middle section which is far better quality than my other boxes. There is a sale on at the moment plus extra 10% if you buy / reserve before midnight

Try Machine Mart.
If your lucky like i was, you might get a 'grade B' box.
I bought a Clarke Premium 6 draw top box and a matching 7 draw mobile tool cabinet, the cabinet had 4 bolts missing that hold the side handle in place, Got that for £150 (catalogue price was £206).

I know you have a £50 budget, but you never know what they have until you ask.

I have sold these and take it from me the halfords ones are not that good. The Sealey ones are alright. The drawers always feel nice in the show room, but when they are full of tools they do not run so smoothly. Also when you drop stuff on them the drawers bend.

I paid £280 for just my top box, which weighs 50kg when its empty! I reversed the car into a narrow open drawer and moved it round. (It was full of tools, three of us couldn't lift it) and the drawer still runs fine.

Answer is you get what you pay for.

thats ok but im not a mechanic, its more to store them in. That big Halfrauds job is outstanding value, I would have to tidy up a bit to fit it in - which is no bad thing...

mucklestone it right you do get what you pay for 75% my tools/box is snap on but i am a mechanic.. i paid over 2500 for my box alone which is just a bit mental i could have had a semi decent box for less than a 1/5th of that.. i know some mechanics who run with sealy stuff and also some halfords stuff and they seem to like it ..serves its purpose..

like anything it will go teets up at somepoint but if looked after if will last a lifetime..

when i bought my box i thought with my small brain not my small wallet

try and find a snap on dealer local to you and ask them if they have a used snap on box ....where they will be the same price as the sealy / halfords one but 2nd hand it will last you your life time and there really really well made .....

I am not a mechanic either, but you can buy tools that are 75% of SNAP-ON or Bri-tools quality for only a little more than the cheap stuff. That way it wiill last the diyer a lifetime.
