Default another bizzare and random question.....Turf

Our new build house has its garden turfed. The builders switched the hosepipe off by accident (we don’t have a ban up here), and half of it went brown. With plenty of watering its coming back again, slowly. But, where ive walked on it to get to the sprinkler, its now uneven and potholed. How do I rectify this so its smooth again. The turf hasn’t taken fully yet so I assume its something to sort once it has?

Easiest thing is to mix grass seed and top soil and fill the holes. Bit of water and a few weeks later.....(Go for "none ryegrass" Grass seed!)

    just as he said..

rake the mixture level, and you'll get a billiard smooth lawn..( unlike mine)..

I would call the contractor and tell them that due to their failure to leave the water supply on you have a problem with the new turf. They should then sort it out. If not call your solicitor.

Walking over it to repair it will result in more damage. You have to lay boards out and crawl over them so as to disperse the weight as much as is possible.

Oh and don't mow the new sections for a while to let the grass establish and don't thread the soil don't and compact it.

Alternatively dig it all up and put slabs down! Only kidding!!!

Ring the contractor (or go and see the nice lady in the marketing suite), and say you are not happy with it. Buy yourself some evergreen weed and feed that should bring it back to life along with the new grass seed and topsoil, if they won't do anything about it and send them the bill.

My sentiments as well, if it was up to me I'd have the bl66dy window box tarmaced. I hate gardening.
Joking aside though, absolutely get back on to the contractor. Why should you shell out for it, it's their fault the grass died.

It hasn't died, It's just uneven. Is it worth the arguement with the builder for the sake of a fivers worth of seed?

    Andy,

    Another alternative.....

Cut the depressions out with a spaced making s0ds about 1.5 inches thick. Rake in some top soil into the hole and replace the sod. This will give an instant solution but way return. You may need to roll the lawn too to even it out.

(I sounds like Monty Don...Please shoot me!)
